Witch

Taking a deeper look at the trials and focusing on the females, who were the primary victims of the witch hunts, we see a strong persecution of those who defied the male establishment. The accusers, also primarily female, were trying to escape that same establishment and for a while they did.

In today’s society, it is safe to say that things have changed since the trials took place in 1892 but we are still fighting. Fighting to be heard, fighting to be respected and fighting to be treated as 100% equals. That is why the witch inspires me so much. That’s who I strive to be everyday: The Independent One, The Passionate One, The Fun One, The Outspoken One, The Courages One and so on…

Below are some of the modern day witches I know. What does the word “witch” mean to you?

“To me, a witch is a woman that is capable of letting her intuition take hold of her actions, that communes with her environment, that isn’t afraid of facing challenges.”

-Paulo Coelho
